This article is about the availability of free cloud storage. Allow me to first give a short definition of cloud storage for those who don’t know what it is. Cloud storage is a storage system that uses virtual networks of servers. Some attributes of cloud storage are: the ability to access files from various types of devices, large storage volumes available and storage that is managed by the service provider. These attributes can be found across the vast majority of cloud storage providers.
There is now the option of free cloud storage. Like many other technological advancements before it, cloud storage was forced to attain a free option from competition. There are many providers who are now offering free storage: Dropbox, Box.net, Amazon CloudDrive, Sugarsync and Windows Live Skydrive just to name a few. Some providers offer a good deal of storage to begin with. Others provide a small amount of storage but reward you with more as you refer new members to them. Still other providers reward more free cloud storage with the purchase of another product. There are now providers that allow unlimited space with no strings attached. Scheduled backup is even offered in some programs. Yet other providers allow file sharing. However; there are providers that put a cap on the amount of storage that can be used. The service provider that is best depends on each individual and what they are looking for.
Free cloud storage is available for those who are interested in it. It is available from many different providers and each comes with a unique package. There are likely many storage providers out there that will not have all of the features one may be looking for. It is important to do an adequate amount of research before selecting a provider to ensure that the desired features are attained. Then the owner can enjoy the peace of mind that those files will be available from anywhere without costing a penny.
